This is an online diary of my tank setup

I was wandering what would people recommend to do with it. I currently have plattys and some shrimp and snails.

Would love to know some great colourful fish to put in it.

Just hit me with any thoughts

thanks in advance

I would use external filtration only

What tank are you getting? What dimensions?

You could have a lovely set up - that's a big tank

Forget little platies, go for some bigger fish

Agreed, you are going to need cannister filters for a tank that size,

So are you wanting to keep your current platys etc for the new setup?

If so I would go with some larger Angels, a trio of Pearl Gouramis, a pair of Bolivian Rams and then some smaller shoals of platys, tetras, etc..

I currently have 2 eheim external filters. 1 from old tank and 1 from new.

I like the fish reccomendations. Would love some larger fish with shoals of smaller ones just want to make sure they won't all get eaten etc.

Dimensions:
160cm long {5ft 3inch } x 55cm deep {1ft 10inch} x 60cm tall {2ft}

How about something like this to start with and then build from there

Upper
2 Angels
3 Pearl gourami (1M2F)
5 Hatchet fish

Middle
7 platys (2M5F)
7 Colombian tetras
7 Black Phantoms

Bottom
2 Bolivian Rams
7 Corydoras
3 SAE
1 Bristlenose

Personally i think putting things like guppies platys etc etc in a big tank is pointless

such a waste ofspace and not to mention if you ever need to move the tank or get the fish out it'll be the hardest thing in your life cos the amount of space they'll havetogetpast your nets and i'm speaking from experience :)

Madman i like your selection of fish and agree trying to catch the little guys is difficult even in my small tank.

But i do like Davo's mixture of small and large. I really like shoals and little guys to wizz around while having some more inpressive fish wandering around.

Are angel fish ok mixing as long as big tank.

2 would be fine considering the tank size is 500L +
If you dropped certain tankmates you could get away with 4-5 and still have no problems IMO.

Even the small shrimp should be ok with the Angels, as they will have plenty of places to hide away

Oh I'm so jealous, it's my dream to get a tank that size, hubby still looking for a job so it's still a dream, will you be showing some piccy's. :hyper:

I'll check your youtube when i get home.

Hi Littlemonkey I will indeed be taking pictures from picking up to what ever is decided.

I'm tempted as it's been used before to reseal the edges to make sure nothing has moved in transport. The corners are covered so any extra sealant would be hidden.

Where did you get it from? I trawl all sites looking for a resonable priced one. Plus I'll have to lose an armchair (haven't told hubby yet) to get it in. :shout:

Was an ebay purchase. about £200. I pick it up tomorrow morning. Luckily I have plenty of room for it
