I came downstairs this morning to give Fonzie his breakfast when i noticed that at the very tip of his ventral fins have gone white! I'm not sure if this is white spot...he's acting fine, being his normal loveable  self. Is it normal that they turn white, or is it cause he's rubbing against the gravel a bit (he's not flicking just resting) I don't want to treat him if he's not infected, I couldn't get a picture of it as he never seems to sit still or at an angle where i can get a shot..but here's apic of him just this morning getting annoyed with himself in a mirror

If he's rubbing, then it should be treated. Can't really tell from your picture. Is it fungus in nature or does it look like ich?

He's not rubbing at all, just resting as he does..and sometimes he'll rest on one of the flat leaves of one of the plants. He's active and hungry..cheeky beggar always trying to trick me into feeding him. I've been keeping up on his water changes and am about to tackle his tank cleaning. Doesn't really look like anything...looks like when you take your hair and dip the tips into beach (mind you i don't think he's into fin colouring) lol But you know what i mean...

would it hurt him to treat for ich as im not sure if it is ich or not......

Is it possible to get a clearer picture of him? It sounds like he doesn't have anything on his finnage, but rather the color has drained out?

I would never medicate unless necessary.

give me a few mins, will try to get apic of it ...clarity might be aproblem as i only have a crappy phone cam...BRB

here ya go, hope this is better!

you can just barely see it, looks slightly on the metallic blue but more of a white spot....could it be where his fins are growing back and that's the colour it's supposed to be given he does have some blue on his dorsal and tail fins?

Bettas do have the tendency to change colors as they get older. Also depending on the food type you are feeding, the food will enhance their colors also. The foods will bring out many colors sometimes that were not originally showing on your betta. I believe this is what is happening with you betta. If it were ich. I would look like salt sprinkled all over your betta.

This is what ich would look like on your betta.

thanks!!! I was beginning to panic!

He gets brine shrimp about twice a week and flake food most other time, next time i go to the lfs gonna pick up some blood worms and he gets his weekly pea.

I just was praying that might be what was happening and not ich!

I've grown really attatched to him and don't want to lose him! lol

Ahhhhhh, so you weren't talking about the ends of his finnage, but rather where the tail meets the body? Yeah, that's his natural coloring and it's gorgeous.
