Well i finally got it planted today. Took hours! I also ordered one too many hairgrass', hence the reason there is one pot left. Plants all looked great (as usual) a big thanks to Richard at aquaessentials! And as soon as they went in the tank they started pearling! Im still waiting for the HM to arrive, that will fill the space where the hairgrass pot is. The water also still needs to clear a bit.

Ok, everything is looking good, equipment is working well and the water has cleared up well. I dosed half E.I and flourish today but i am not seeing any pearling at all, there were a couple of bubbles yesterday but none today. Any ideas as to why?

I would those plants a day or two to pick themselves before they start to pearl.

Are you going to be introducing a lot of weeds to help fight off any algae problems. You can see in my Iwagumi journal that I have added temporary bunches of fast growing stems. They have been in there for a month and will remain for a good while yet.

That is a nice selection of plants you have gone for, and the mound should look really nice covered in Eleocharis. Just make sure that you take the precautions to prevent algae from taking over.

Dave.

No, i wasnt planning on any weeds, but may introduce some if i have any troubles. OK, il wait for the pearling, but why would it take a few days?

Looks good, why don't you plant the Hairgrass anyway?

I think that the plants aren't pearling properly, it seems that when people introduce plants to tanks they appear to pearl straight away, even in tanks where there is hardly any CO2 present or high lighting. This could be because when the plants have been exposed to air they recieve quite a large amount of CO2 and so they would have intense photosynthesis and once underwater, produce visible oxygen bubbles. This is something I have happened to observe, it may (and quite likely) be completely wrong. Your plants should pearl anyway in your conditions, I just think it can't be straight away. That's why when you first put them in your tank they pearled, and don't pearl now.

Cheers,
Mike

yeh, il plant the hairgrass tomorrow. As for the pearling, i guess the only way we will be able to tell is if the plants start to pearl!

Looks really promising, love the hill and wood. The plants will look great when they fill out. It does take the plants a while to settle in and start growing and pearling. If it were me I would put in a bit of hornwort for a few weeks, with algae prevention is better than cure, algae just loves new tanks whatever light or ferts we use. You can always take it out and leave it in a jar of water for pics.

Thanks for the comments. going to wait until evrything has grown in untill i decide on whether to put any moss or ferns on the wood. I'm also going to leave the weeds for now, at the first sign of algae i will introduce some. I've got a better picture of the tank, taken yesterday. The water has cleared a lot and the rotala and diandra are growing nicely.
