Hey i am fairly new to planted aquariums only really getting into aquarium plants about a few months ago. In my tank i have attached java moss to the driftwood centerpiece and an anubius nana to another one of my driftwood. For the background, i added an amazon sword, bunches of twisted vals and bunches of wisteria. In The midground, in front of the group of vals i added a couple of cryptocoryne wendtiis....
Can anyone give me any other plant suggestions (back, mid and foreground) for my 30 gallon aquarium that would enhance the overall look of my tank??? Also, feel free to suggest any improvements needed, location etc....Also, any suggestions welcome on a foreground plant that could fill the space in front of my crypts....I place root tabs under and around my plants, dose liquid ferts weekly and have about 1.6 w/g lighting....
Thankyou in advanced for any replies...
The pics are below:

You could tame (give it a trim) some of the moss you have on the driftwood and attach it to thin pieces of slate to place on the substrate. This would eventually fill out and give a nice covering of the area you placed the slate.

I also think that your piece of wood stands out too much and would benefit from having a few plants in front of it. Maybe you could position the wood diagonally and bury it a bit more in your gravel.

What are the dimensions of your tank?

hey thanks...i will consider in having a carpet of java moss...My tank dimensions are 36 inch long, 14 inch wide and 18 inch tall...
I will try and put my driftwood at slight angle after i buy some more plants...Do you or any other people have any suggestions on a good foreground plant to place in front of my drifwood (maybe micro swords/dwarf sags/moss attached to slate)??? And i still think there is enough space behind my center driftwood...maybe in front of the anubius or crypts, or maybe beside my amazon sword i could place a particular plant??? (any and every suggestions welcome)....
Thankyou again and thanks for any other replies....

You don't have enough light for any microswords. Some dwarf sag (Sagittaria subulata) would look nice. Also, behind the driftwood, I think HM (Hemianthus micranthemoides) would fit nicely.

I don't have any plant suggestions, but from the dimensions you gave, that's a 40g tank, not 30.

Thanks...I will try to put the driftwood at a slight angle and buy a rock slate and some more java moss to attach to it...I will put this slate in front of my crypts filling out the empty space (hence filling out the rest of the midground space)....I will have a look at some easy foreground plants at the shop (most prob dwarf sag), as well as some more background plants that would do nicely...
To neon tetra - i worked the sides to be about 40 US gallons but after displacement with rocks, plants and driftwood....i worked it out to be estimated 30 sumthin (because i measured the height without the rocks - but with the rocks the height is about 15 inches??)...I dont know if your meant to measure in displacement form or the tank dimensions without the decorations???
So thanks again....other sugestions and ideas still welcome.....

Fill the tank up all the way, then take the rocks out, then fill it up again but measure how much you put in and subtract it from 40. Then take water out and put the rocks back in. Kind of long, I know, but not if you don't dump the water out and just leave it near you.

forgot to tell you but when i said the rocks, i meant the actual subtrate lolz....i would not be taking the subtrate out (common sense) after all lol...thanks anyways...

Thanks...I have more pics below and decided to get my final plant (some sort of chain sword) which is located inbetween the wisteria and amazon sword....I also added two slates in the empty space at the left...Do you think it looks good as it is or should i trim some java moss off the wood and attach it to the two rock slates??? For now, i dont think i will be getting anymore plants and just make them grow out and see from there...I may post a before and after pic after the plants grow more noticibly...
P.S. does anyone know how to trim the wisteria (say if it grows to an extent that it blocks too much light from my swords???)???

my suggestion?

get a bit of height into the hard aquascaping... like a taller bit of wood... that can really add drama - also look at using the 'golden section' principle:

Basically take the display to a tall focal point that sits just off-centre to the left or right.

however... it really looks like you are doing a great job!!!

Thanks...If i consider consider getting a taller piece of wood, which would you prefer for my tank; a thick tall one, or a really branchy one or a thick at the base thin at the top type??? So if i do decide to actually get one, do you have any ideas on where to put it, because i think the space in my tank is just about filled up (unless i consider rearanging or substituting a particular deco/plant???)...
