My 1 month old tiger oscar went from black and orange to light brown and orange like some sort of coating on him , he is in a 35 gallon tank it has been up for 1 month and just recently got a plco and he lasted 3 days then died so i am thinking it may have died because of what the oscar has , the water temp is 76 and took the water to 3 diffrent pet stores all say water is ok and nitrates are ok to , im new to this aquarium thing so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes something not right.
Is the coating on the fish milky or greyish in colour, or a dusting of yellowlish to brown varnish.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing on objects.
Any laboured breathing.

no the coating is more like a light brown coating, there are no signs of rubbing or flicking , and breathings seems to be fine his appetite is good too so no lose in appetite either .

Does it look fluffy hard to tell in the pic.

nope no fluff at all just more like a coat of something, from what i can tell anyways

Was trying to find out the texture of it, does it look like velvet, going to be hard to tell which it is parasite to bacterial.

turn out all aquarium and room lights and use a flashlight, the point source of light will make Oodinium more visible.

Would of expected the fish to rubbing it self against objects if it was velvet.

Need to look at the plec that died can you name his symtoms it will help decide what it is.

looked at the oscar with lights out , i see a 4 or 5 little saftey pin specks of white all in the same area ,if that is ick will it turn him brown

The plec was normal as can be hid behind my over the back filter and sucked to the sides of the tank, then he got a brown spot on him before he died

Parasite then can get brown spots as well as the name goes by black spot.
Velvet can also show itself like whitespot it looks like talc dusting.

Remove black carbon turn temp up to 30.
Increase aeration in the tank as the high temp and med will reduce 02 in the water.
Add two teaspoons of salt as well if there no plecs in the tank only him.

He could also have a bacterial infection on top with having it a while as parasite are nasty.

Interpet do a med as well never used it though called slime and velvet med.

K i will do it heres a better pic of him..

He's bad, have you got a med in the house.

if your talking bout fish medicine i have no was waiting to decide what i need to buy, or what will help him

He's bad and didn't want to wait around.
For now turn temp up and add some salt say a tablespoon of house hold salt now.
Have to get that med fast, I would pick a bacterial med up as well just in case.
Waterlfe myxazin.
