after reading FISHOWNERS 5gal planted tank i looked at my male betta tank and thought i could do something with it, ive got pale pink gravel and some hornwort and elodea to plant in there, here is a little pic of what the tank looks like now, not very nice, doesn't catch your eye, so i am going to add the gravel and some plants soon :D hope he will like his new home :D

the tank is infested with snails, so im going to take all the bad snails out and put some good snails like trumpet snails i have loads in my 20gal :D

one hour later, i am happy with the turn out, its much better than it used to be  the plants ive got in there are hornwort and some vallis i dont know how the vallis will get on but, looks good at the moment :good:
tell me what you think :p

thanx FISHOWNER :p

think i might add a small light and some more hornwort :)

it was in my 39gal but i popped it in my 4gal looks pretty good, something for my betta to hide in :)
what else do you think i could put in to give it a better look?

I'd suggest putting some black backing paper on the back of the tank to bring out the colours more. Also some bushy plants to fill the back out.
Does the tank have a ligh?

nope the tank hasn't got a light but was hoping to get one, what types of bushy plants could i maybe have?

would a small java fern do ok? i could attatch it to the cave, what do you think?

what i was thinking of is filling the tank with vallis and hornwort, make it look like a little jungle :)

Go for it, would be great to see how it turns out. With hornwort, it grows quickly, but you'll still need a light. If you get that sorted, you could experiment with shaping the hornwort to get the desired effect you're looking for..

what light do you suggest, and how much would a light for this size tank be?

it will look very good if it has a light :)

I dont have a clue how you would go about fitting a light to you're tank. I struggled figuring out what i needed for when i get my planted tank but thanks to people on here i know what i need :).
I think you could go for a small flouresant tube, you'd need a starter kit such as:
http://www.theaquariumshop.co.uk/interpet-...gear-o-167.html
Then you'd need a tube, but i'm not sure how long 15w tubes are, i think they are around 18", so its probably too big for you'res, but if you look around you can get smaller starter kits and smaller tubes.
