I may have gone a bit overboard with the driftwood... it looked smaller in the shop :S
It's ok though, and at least it will still look good once I upgrade to a 55 gallon.

Here's the tank before:

Most plants removed, refilling after a good clean and trying to scoop out most of the trumpet snails (still horribly infested, lol)

Plants and slate piece

The bumblebee catfish I haven't seen out in the open for nearly a year... he was quite upset I took out his home. He lived in a little cave under the slate

Here it is now, still cloudy from the sand getting stirred up but you get the basic idea... just trust me, it's going to look fantastic when it clears!

You can see a bit better with flash on...

Looks great with the wood and very well balanced, i think you added just the right amount and nice pieces too. Have you tried sieving the sand to get the snails out.

Emma :D

that is so much better
its going to look so cool once its settled down.keep posting pics

I think you should hide the wood a bit more with the plants, it looks less natural than the first pic, like put it further back or bring the plants forward, it's still a very nice tank!

the tank look brilliant, i like it alot!
can't wait to see it when it clears! clown loach will sort out yor snail problem and by the time they out grow the tank you could move them to your future bigger tank!
nath1 :D

And oh, I'll gladly take some of the MTS off yer hands :hey:
Oh lordy, just pay shipping and I'll give you a bucket full!!
I've still got a couple of other horribly infested tanks I'd gladly give you snails from.

Eh, I've tried it in the past without much success, actually. I've got a large yo-yo loach in there at the moment who doesn't seem to be doing squat

Should be completely cleared up by tomorrow, but now there's the tannin factor to deal with
The fish are loving it though, they're more active than usual. Part of that might be because I took the terrors of angelfish back to the LFS today, though.

Eligos the bichir and his demon eyes

Here's his bad side... he scratched his face up badly when he was younger and it got horrifically infected and took his eye. He's otherwise normal though and has healed beautifully

One of the two awesome trapdoor snails I got last weekend

View from the side... see how nice and thick the plants are back there? :hey:
There's a bumblebee catfish hiding somewhere in that forest
