Thankyou!,

The background is still way too messy, I am waiting until everything puts down some good roots before I start trimming stuff. I never thought that a decent substrate and a heater cable would kick all this growth off. Its mind-boggling

It's Riccia.

Held down 'al-la' Jimboo style, with hair nets. Will only do well that far down in the tank if you have relatively high light.

I agree beautiful tank, well done.

I really like how the tank looks like a jungle. Tanks that are too pruned IMO look like they'd be good for contests, but having a jungle in your house is even better. Good job, keep it up

There's a rule in my house. No major disruption to the eating area! That means no pruning or major out of tank mess, unless the Mrs has gone to football with the little people. That means this morning I can prune/move the right hand side of the tank about a bit. It has a huge gap from the bit of bogwood that is now in my soon to be revealed planted 10 gallon.

I do like it to look less clinical than some. But then again I'm probrably just saying that cos I'm jealous! I'm learning, and taking cues from other tanks. Just need a little more time to get to grips with it I think. I nearly chucked it all out a few months ago! I'm going to 'fill-in' the right hand side at the back at some point today, I'll repost another image then. My Sony Camera Phone takes a better picture than my camera at the moment, after sombody dropped the camera on the floor!

Looking good mate, whats the specs on your tank light etc.

I fancy a riccia carpets, under high light they have a lovely green colour and look the bizz when they pearl.

Any plans for a carpeting plant at the front.

Well,

I have just fitted the new Co2 reactor. It's an Aquamedic Reactor M. Its very noisy. I'm about to order another lighting unit from Aqua essentials, and at that time, I'm going to build a new hood assembly to hold it all. Its a Juwel Rio 180, and it has 96Watts of lighting, so thats around 2WPG, not enough to get Riccia really going, or the Glosso that I bought today either!

Yes, I do want to get a 'carpet' going in the front, but I need to get on top of the lighting first. I think that I will need around 2.5 WPG before it really takes off. It's hard work getting all the bits and pieces together without 'er indoors' complaining that the bathroom hasn't been finished yet!

It's magic watching all the bubbles whizzing round the reactor, I just wish that Aquamedic made it quieter! Its noisier than my PC!
