Zebra Plec Look-alike

They (L034) sell for approx £15 each at my lfs (Wholesale Tropicals) here in London. Really good sized stunning specimens.

Any idea how big they get and whether they can be with each ohter or other plecs.

Those are amazing looking plecs but I dont think they are L034

L034 - They look nothing like those, and they are BN cats as well?


if you ment L134 then they are white, and those shown are yellow striped - linky

Sorry yes I meant L134. I think some of them are more yellow looking and some white. Though I think those photos (pardon me if I'm wrong!) might be off on the colour balance and in fact not be quite as yellow.

aye that maybe the prob, it looks amazing in yellow though.

I went to PC.com and type in L134 after reading your post, without realising it actually said L034, until I re-read the thread. erm that could have been written better!

they look a lot like zebras, except the head aren't as wide and stubby

still nice fish though, better looking than my L001, BN and Bulldog plec

We have a male and female that are in their own tank (with a few corys and some tetras)

How about the L129 Columbian Zebras? they are a nice blacky brown with creamy wiggles... I happen to have a group of 5 for sale

L250 Look amazing as well, but apparently they are MORE than rare in the trade, according to PC.com only 8 specimens have ever been imported, but they are close to what you want

as for L029, not all that nice, but still a lovely looking ickle fishy

L316 Rio Jari Zebra Pleco is your best bet, grows to 5 inches

Those L-134 in the picture are mine and I took the pic and I can assure you they are truly that yellow. The color balance was not off.

Unfortunately that pair, my pair of L-333 and the two male queen arabs all got shipped out shortly after that pic was taken. I needed the space for the zebras.

They are lovely indeed odd though the wide colour difference and variation for the same fish. I've seen them from very pale off white to a lovely yellow. But not as yellow as yours and smithrc says.
I'd definitely like some of these in a future setup.

When they are happy - they are a rich yellow...
In stores they tend to look washed out and mottled...

someone offered me 2 zebras at a reasonable price so i might just stick with zebras.
