Hi all,

Just bought 6 zebra danios today. Have got them in the aquarium, lights off. no food - climatised bag for 20 mins then started topping up with tank water.... the normal thing

Just wondering, what the normal behaviours of danios are?

These seem very alert flying around, in their group and spending around 40% at the bottom/mid and 60% at the top of the tank. They seem to be skimming the surface getting air every now and then

Is this the normal behaviour? Should I drop a little food in?

Cheers!

perfectly normal for them.
they are a very active fish and need lots of space to swim.
they will always want food :)

Excellent - just fed them a little, they nearly had my hand off!! Not shy at all!

I have Danios, they are mental, when i do water tests and fill the test tube, they run into my fingers!!!

give them some live bloodworm and watch them go crazy

danios are crazy little things!!! as people have said - i cycled my tank with 7 and after 2 days of being in the tank they have always taken food out of my fingers !!!!

funny when you put ur habdin the tank (maintenance) and they "nip" at my arm and fingers !!!

sooo cool fish to watch - very cheeky or pirahana related ?!?!?!?!?!?!

I love em, well funny fish!

Just a couple of questions:

These things always seem hungry, I am trying to stick to one feed every 24hrs but am sure they need a slightly smaller feed every 12hrs?

Is it normal for these to chase each other around, they seem to go mental every now and then chasing the smaller zebra's around the tank

Many thanks
