ugh!!!!!! i could never let my tanks get that bad. i freak out when they get even the tiniest bit cloudy (like after a gravel cleaning and all the disturbance is floating about). sorry but brown water liek that is a definite sign theres a problem. oh can you imagine the smell that must have been coming from that!!!!!!

Actually, brown water isn't necessarily a sign of a problem. It could be a sign that you've added a bit of Mopani wood to your tank, having believed the directions that said it just needed a rinse and then could be added to the tank without problems...

) Well, that's what happened to me. I'd hate anyone to think my tank is bad because its brown. I have bogwood in all of my tanks that stains the water golden brown.

i dont think that is from mopani. only an aquariast would mopani, and i doubt that an aquariast would let that water line go down 4 inches.

Yeah, I know. I was just feeling upset about my brown water! But I've fixed the problem - I've put some charcoal in my filter and already its looking a million times better.

If you look at the website on the bottom of the photo its a algae remover product. This tank obviously has had a brown algae outbreak. The company probably used it to demostrate thier product.
