i just got some yoyo loaches for my 30 gal tank.

i was going to get zebra as i've heard they stay smaller but the ones in the lfs had to be at least 3" already where as the yoyos are about 1"
a google search has brought up sizes ranging from 2" to 6"
searching on here i've read from 3" to 10"!!!

hi
yoyos can get big some on this forum have reported them up to 8inches in size ( and there is also a debate on whether the fish called 'yoyos' is instead actually 2 different species of botia instead , theres an old thread on this forum somewhere on this - try a search) but most yoyos seem to get to about 5 inches in size. they grow quickly for the first year and then it slows right down. our 2, we have had for prob around 6 yrs, and they are approx 5 inches long & about an inch wide at thickest girth. i havent noticed ours growing for a couple of years - maybe they have but its not enough to notice.

That has been my experience. I've not seen mine grow much after hitting about 4 inches, so the realistic maximum size for most people seems to be in the 5 inch range.

sshhhwwooo..
i feel a bt better now
i still feel like they will be pretty big for my tank, 30 gal..but zebra were recommended instead, and they were so big in the lfs..i would go for chain loaches, but they are $10 a piece here, i can't afford to blow 50 dollars on just fish...maybe i'll be able to get a bigger tank in awhile..i know groups are recommended to be 5+, i lost one, so i have 4 now...but from what i saw they mostly stayed in pairs anyways..they should be ok in a group of 4 right?

edit:
found that post you mentioned...weird how after 4 years they still haven't really got it figured out..
