Your bettas weirdest/cutest habit

Then I always throw in that it could be worse, I could be a crackhead spending all my money on dope instead of fish and they usually shut right up!

 my mum's friend said the same thing in my defence when Mum worried about how much time I spend with my dogs/fish/writing. Lesley just said "Well, I think you're very fortunate Andrea is home each night and not on the street corner buying drugs" and Mum has been much more tolerant ever since :p (to be fair Mum has always tried to understand every one of my hobbies; Lesley just put things in perspective for her)

As to habits, Fiyero lets me pet him but otherwise he doesn't seem to have many yet (he does check out the lights on the heater whern they flick on). Galinda likes to watch me when I'm within sight line; follows along until she can't see me anymore, but that's about it for the girls.

Fysh, though, used to play dead. It was his favourite game. He used to hang in a horseshoe shape (as if he were spawning with the water) and just bob near the surface. He would always (ALWAYS) make sure he could see me when he did it, and when I got up to check on him he would wait until I was nearing the tank before he sprang to life, looked right at me and flared. 'Fooled ya, Mum!'

 These fish eh. I gave my boy a small piece of defrosted prawn this evening. He tried to rip it out of my fingers!! He wouldn't touch it once it hit the sand but if you dropped it he would catch it before it got half way down and gobble it up. Then look rather pleased about it. B)
BTW his fins and tail are growing back really well now. Shall get a nice pic of him soon. :D
Hugs,
P.

I have my betta in an Aquaview tank, and he likes to flair & wiggle at the electric cord. At night, whenever I cut the room lights off & keep the tank light on, he jumps around and flairs like crazy. I don't know if he sees his reflection in the glass or what. :)

Anybody's betta like to watch  ? Fafner gets a kick out of watching my harlequins do the mating dance. Dirty little fish!

He likes to watch from the comfort of his cave, or a nice plant. :hey: My fish has a fetish! He will just watch them for about an hour when they do their thing, and then the show's over. Afterwards, he assumes his normal, "ain't I the prettiest betta ever?" position at the front of the tank. He's not scared, doesn't look distressed, he just watches! It's so funny.

LOL!! Now you need to give him some porn music since he's into vouyerism!

He prefers Barry White, but all I play in my apt is Renaissance music, so the harlequins are getting down to the beat of a nice 15th century Catholic Mass. If they're really lucky, they'll get down and dirty to Bach, after all, he had like 13 kids, so it would be good mood music.

I just realized how nuts this is. :p

But fun.

Angelika, that is too cute! Lol, it made me think of that Greek pic:

I fed peas to the bettas for the first time this afternoon. As I was dropping one into Porsche's tank, right as it hit the water, he jumped up and grabbed it in his mouth  (the others let the peas float down before they grabbed at them).

my betta use to attack his food like a mad man...betta i meen, but now he puts it in his mouth choose it around for a bit. spits it out lets it get softer then attacks it...but after a 1 or 2 day fast the softness of the food is not an issue. the issue is is that its not in his tummy! :D

i use to feel kinda weird talking to ppl about bettas...but now i got 3, THREE PEOPLE hooked on their bettas. friday after gym when we here dressin out joe turns to me in his boxers an says "coojoe eats alot" jus like that outa the freakin blue. lol i gave him coojoe too :D he named him coojoe cuz when he had him in a show case on the side of his jackdempsie tank he was flairin an all kindsa stuff at his JD fish. we're talking a good 10'' of fish vs. 2'' of betta! lol

Hehe, I can imagine that! I wonder how he'd be acting if he didn't have the tank wall between him and the JD though... :p

my female betta opal likes to watch me on this site.

She sits on my desk to keep me calm through all my emails!

She is always flaring at nice pics of betta boys! :hyper:

I think she's trying to tell me something! lol! :hey:

LOL if only our fish could check our emails for us... mine'd probably do it if I gave them a few bloodworms.

It's really weird what my fish flare at... not each other, noooooo. They're a male and female betta next to each other but take no notice whatsoever of each other. But they DO flare at:

- my dogs
- my pink fluffy pen
- a photo frame I have on my desk
- my hand when I'm trying to feed them or change water

And countless other silly things.
