I'm in the same boat, up to my eyeballs in guppy fry and desperately trying to find good homes! I wouldn't say no to the platies though, haven't owned any yet and it might be fun. If I can only get rid of all these babies and clear some space!

Great news ill PM you with some pics of the parent platties later this afternoon,
try taking them to Boscombe fish shop next to Iceland maybe he would swap for some food etc.... its slowly having a sort of refit and looking much better there now

i know hes been short of guppies for a few weeks now

My 4 new bettas all have names now.

Red female=Phoenix (means blood red)

White female=Yuki (means snow)

Pink/red male=Aquarius (means "The Water Bearer" plus Aquarius is my zodiac sign)

Green/Red male=Ladon (pronounced LAY-DONE...ancient Greek myth says Ladon was a dragon that guarded Hera's golden apples and was slain by Hercules)

Steve Irwin; blue/red veiltail my boyfriend got just before his 21st Birthday. Name Steve Irwin after the legend. We just call him Steve or Steven tho.

Khan; pink/red crowntail. Named after lead singer of Kamelot. Cant put down whether they are a prog metal or power metal band tho cos there will be arguments from the boyf.

We also have 4 girls (our 5th Ariel sadly died); Tinkerbell, Jasmine, Belle and Heather. All Disney princesses bar Heather who was named after the 80's film "Heathers" starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.

I just have one at the moment, Wentworth. Named after the actor Wentworth Miller who plays Michael Schofield (AKA Fish) in Prison Break!

I've got five now, after a bit of a nasty accident that led to one of my little girls death...

So...

Big Blue-My eldest boy, and fairly self explanetory. He was almost called "Bubbles", but it seemed a little too wimpish for him. He does get "Sulkie" sometimes-he just sits in his plant and sulks until I feed him-the greedy little beggar!

Jagged-She has a jagged tail!

Yuko Yuki- partially named by my sister after a character from one of her favorite manga's, xXxHolic. Yuko has a small marking on her back that looks like 3 x's. Yuko means gracious child, and Yuki means Snow in Japanese.
There was a slight mistranslation on our part-my sister and I wrongly believed that Yuko would translate to "Blood", and that she would be named "Blood on Snow." When we first got her she was a pale white, with light pink fins, and it fitted. She has darkened down now, so she has a cream coloured body, and dark red fins.

Piglet-she's a light pinkish white, and eats everything. She'd happily munch away all day if I let her. I really have to monitor just how much she's eating, and distract her at feeding time-she'd never let any one else eat otherwise!

Tchaikovsky-named by my brother. I'm not too sure why though. I think he just liked the sound.

And we come to Goldie-she was a beautiful little gold HM, with big aqua coloured eyes. Unfortunatly she died this week in a nasty accident with the filter.
So I'm trying to find a replacement, and another girl to join her in the tank.

Mr. Red (red CT, my 4 year old named)
Mr. Rainbow (blue CT, my 4 year old named)
Mrs. Rainbow (Mr. Rainbow's wife)
Pinky (VT with pink body and beautiful blue fins)
Zorro (green/blue VT with black face)
And 7 fry who have not been named yet, but are just about ready to go into their own tanks and be named.

My Boys:

Rojo: named in reference to the Blue Raja in Mystery Men - name just seemed to fit.
Rojo-1.jpg

Mohana: it's hawaiian for "bunch of flowers" and with his random colors he seemed like a tropical flower of sorts.
Mohana.jpg

Nova: he reminded me of a star... (sorry for the crappy lighting)
Nova.jpg

Ming: dunno why
Ming.jpg

Sushi: he's my cronic fin nibbler - his tail has been full length once! He was a rescue from Petco.
Sushi.jpg

Chester: named after the Winchester brothers in the TV series "Supernatural" - you can't really tell in the photo but he's a double double ray...and he's in a nice 3 gallon home now...
CT3.jpg

Falcor: named after the luck dragon from "The Neverending Story"
Falkor2.jpg

Mr Tumnus: named after the fawn in "The Lion the Witch and the Waredrobe" because when I first brought him home he was constantly hoping on the top of the water...he was another rescue, from Petsmart (don't get me into the icky conditions I found him in  )

And...the girls:

Wisp: named after Rainbow Brite (her real name is Wisp) - Picture was from when I just brought her home she's living happily in a bigger tank now.
