i was looking on ebay at fish, as one does!

and came across a bloke selling Arowanas , 3 of them ... 13" long...

so i messaged him asking if the fish were all in one tank or seperate ones. he messaged back saying they were all in one tank, a five foot tank along with a 10" oscar a lima shovel nose catfish and some others

what is wrong with people

Well, he's not keeping them any more, so let's hope they go to better equipped owners.

what was the point in posting this? i dont see a problem if hes selling them and they wernt massive so its not that bad.

question is why not?its a forum right? a place to discuss topics related to fish keeping.if people want to post topics about over sized fish in a inadequate tank let them, its doing no harm.

what i mean is whats the point in makeing a topic slagging him of when hes trying to sort it out.

i think what chrisrm was saying is that people should know better than to overstock a tank with big fish. people who buy such fish as him should know there adult size and therefore should maybe do a little thinking, maybe a little math and come to the conclusion that actually, no, my tank isn't adequate.

EDIT: i dont think chrisrm ment just him, people in general, he just happened to be the example.

tbh we all make mistakes like that though i know when i first started i made loads that i have learned form and wouldnt do again. so if he has learn he was wrong getting them and is trying to sort it out i dont think you can slag him of because ive broght fish that i hadent read about and that would have got massive.

He's not getting rid of them 'cos they're too big. The seller is moving and won't have room for the tank any longer. Either way, probably a happier outcome for the fish than if they'd stayed in their current home.
