As it says on the tin, a 1.5 gallon tank, no filter or lighting but the room is a steady 25C so fine for tropicals (never drops below just occasionally hitting 26C). I am wondering what you would all do with it?

No suggestions will be taken to heart, anything considered even if it is not a fish related suggestion. But please no answers like ‘are you sure you can not get any electricity’ ‘how about an extension cable’ or ‘buy a bigger tank goddammit’.

Would be really interested in what some of you would do with it.

Thankwoo =]

Put a betta in it.

sorry but I would chuck it out. I use buckets that hold twice that amount just for water changes :(
If you are really desperate to set it up then perhaps a couple of ramshorn snails but I wouldn't recommend a fish.

I'd consider a Betta..... as long as you're sure the water will stay warm enough, and you're prepared to do water changes often.

Agreed Snails or Shrimp, Nothing else, definatley no fish

NO. That is possibly one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

You know what? If you can't heat ( 25 degrees C is too cold for a betta ) or filter it and have no electrics whatsoever, then plant a fern in it or something. That's all it's good for.

Agreed with Honeythorn, do not put a betta in it, its far too small, they need a heater as they prefer higher temps.

Snails would be good though.

If you say so. I know people that keep bettas at nothing more than room temperature. People do it all the time and get away with it. He didn't say it was going in an unheated room. As a matter of fact I have bred and raised bettas at 77F (25C). I think what you are telling him is ridiculous!

Well I guess each has their own opinion on bettas, mine were not happy in low temps, they became very lethargic, much preferring warmer water and more active.

i also dont think that 1.5g is big enough, sure it can survive in it, but not exactly nice to have no room to move much.

Even the way that you are typing this shows you dont agree with it and you know that its wrong. "Get away with it" not the statement of someone who is doing right by their fish, no? :good:

How bout a little planted aquascape? There's someone around the planted tank forums that does pico-aquascapes. They're pretty cool! Maybe you could have some nerite nails to go with it, they're neat and don't eat plants.

So what shrimp do you recommend bud, and how many?

I am respecting everyones opinion here, on the betta issue.
But please let it stay on topic, just what you would do with it, not crushing other people’s opinions.
YOU would do.
Thanks for the replies so far.

It's a much better life than in a betta death cup. That's how most bettas are kept. I can prove it too: I bet that if you walked into a popular LFS and ask the fish guy/gal which betta bowl sells the most and he will point to a death cup.

The OP was looking for what he could possibly do with that tank in those conditions. Yes it is possible to keep a betta in that tank. You shouldn't do it, but if you must then go ahead.

Is that better?

Is that better, by buying Betta's from these cups and "saving" them you are just supporting the trade of these fish in cups. Just because they can dosent mean you should. Anyway before it gets off topic, this has been discussed before it dosent matter.

Thanks
