Honestly finding fish that were well bred and not TOO far from the wild-caught ancestors is your best bet for a hardy fish. Anabantoids (sp?) in general are pretty hardy as they were designed to live in low oxygen environments where the water was pretty ugly. I would say my hardiest two fish ever was an osphronemus, G, and also my current arowana, Fafnir, who had long lives.
