Yippee!

Awww bless them

Well done to Mystic for his efforts so far :flex:

can't wait to see little baby pics :snap:

I'll have to borrow my mother's digital camera for any photos. I doubt even SHE knows where it is. ;)

There are little bitty tails sticking out of the nest this morning, and their dad is scouring the bottom for any babies he may have missed. He's actually one of my more thorough males.

Counted the tails that I could see...still five. :)

New spawn! Right now, as I type. They've been at it for maybe 30 minutes, but they did take a break because he got nippy and she got scared. But they're back at it in earnest, and the male IS putting his eggs into the nest.

That's the new papa. It's his first spawn. I don't have a picture of the female, but she's one of Yeevia's Cambodians with gold on her body. Such a little cutie.
Wou! I am out for two days and I am already a GRANDFATHER? How come I didn't know! LOL    So you are the one got the other golden girl huh! Wou!!! this will be a special breeding. Don't be suprise you going to get a lot of blink-blink red gold babies.  You are the first one breeding her. I am planning to cross one girl with her........... errr...errr..... father soon? LOL    When my breeding tank available. :p
Congratulation! I bet there still got babies under the bubbles nest. You will know tomorrow for sure. :p

I was wondering if you'd notice that little line!

You're the brand new grandfather of about 5 little tails sticking out of the nest. They're not active yet, but I expect them to be bouncing up and down under that nest by morning.

It takes about 36 hours to 2 days before they swim right. That is how mine are. Don't worried too much since their own egg yolk still are their main sources to feed. :D The father will do a good job. I just had a beautiful pair rosetail yellow cello halfmoon spawn last week. Today will be their first try to eat live brine shrimp. :) They are at least over 300 in the tank and they are tiny. :)

Below picture is my new next project. Red Chilli halfmoon cross back to his daughter. LOL :p
I want to see what is the different. Are the babies become more to red chilli since the original mother is from different breeder and not from Chok. Daughter is 50% and the babies should be 75% red chillies. :) Am i right?

Awww... Cute pair!

A couple of the fry have left the nest, but I haven't seen any swimming. They're clinging to the glass around the nest.

Cute pair? Hehehehe they are father and daughter. LOL    Opps,,, and they breed. LOL
OK, This is called cross back. :) (Am I right?) Getting more true gene to the father line.
As for the fries, it is ok. It will be better tomorrow. It need at least 2 days and then they started to swim better. :) third days will be active. Looking for food since the egg sack is gone. :) Need food. :p

Inbreeding like that is a frequent enough practice, and fairly useful for fixing desired traits in a line. At least with fish, the ones with genetic defect usually die off...unlike with other species.

It amazes me how much less active it is that fry tank now, compared to all the other spawns, even with the dad still buzzing around, patrolling like a little madman (he only stops this activity to add a few bubbles to the nest, examine under the nest for babies, and then go back to patrolling for other fish who might not belong there). Then again, there's only maybe those five fry, and they're still so young! My last two spawns (currently aged almost 10 weeks, and almost 8 weeks) were very active by this time, with fry jumping out of the nest and then darting back in. And then there's this spawn, with all the babies hiding in the nest or against the glass. Probably just a difference in numbers, though.

Yes, i want to try to clear out the white end tips fins in the babies. The father is solid red chilli color without white tips at the end. I hope this will help.
Interesting to know that the babies are less active. Maybe the spawn are small and make the father is so depress. :p

There must be something of a safety in numbers, so these ones, being so few, are quiet and still, so as not to attract attention.... Took me FOREVER to find them with my flashlight. Good thing their dad is used to my antics by now, and doesn't even flare at me.

They're free-swimming. I have NO idea how many there are, but I keep seeing one of them following the dad around. So cute. I forgot how tiny they were at this age.

I only saw five tails in the nest. That doesn't mean there weren't more there. And it's a 10-gallon tank with virtually microscopic fry. Hard to tell. :)

I believe 5 is probably a pretty accurate number, though.
