Well I got my Roma 240 yestrerday :hyper:

One thing that I might be being quite dense over is how the filter tubes make their way into the tank. I watched the fluval DVD which comes with the filter and it was of very little help at all. Has anyone else out there got a Roma 240 with an external filter who can advise me how my tubes should go. The current way I have them (as the DVD recommends) means I cant shut the lid properly at the back.

i was a little confused about that myself when i set my Roma up.

in the end i got a hacksaw out and cut a couple of small slots in the lid, it took 5 minutes and it shuts nice and securely now. just remember measure twice, cut once ;)

I'll have to give that a go tonight then.

Same with my vision 260. Just cut the back flap and hey presto, a snug fitting lid again.

I cant wait to put my fish in it.

Do you think ill be okay with just having plants in it? I wont need an air pump will I?

The back of the roma, has two places, either end where there are scored sections rectangular in shape with a small dip, if you apply a small amount of pressure they come off, this is where the hoses fit, no need to cut anything.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

Ill try this when I go home :D :good: :good: :good: :good:

When I got my 1st roma, I spent flaming ages, trying to work out the exact same thing, was cursing thinking I would have to cut one of the hood panels to go around the hoses!! It was my 14yr old that said, 'hey mum, dont these pieces just pull out' . It was a 'doh' moment :D

When I got my roma, the little plastic covers did not come out, they were part of the top frame, what I did was to mark the distance that needed to be cut then take out a small piece at a time with a craft knife until the pipe was a sung fit, this stops smells and noise from your tank.
