yellow water

Yes, If you put in drift wood your water will stay yellow for about a week until it filters. Its totally normal.

Here's the short and dirty:

Driftwood leaches tannins into the water almost like you're putting a bag of tea in the tank. It's usually not harmful. Hopefully you boiled it before putting it in to kill bacteria. The tannins will slightly lower the pH, and some fish will do better with them in the water, especially tetras.

To get yellow color out: either filter well and do water changes, or remove driftwood and soak it for a couple weeks to help get more tannins out (there will still be some left).

You'll need to do quite a few water changes to get rid of it, but it will get noticeably less and less every time.

Tanin is actually considered a good thing for fish by some because of the nutrients contained within that cannot be found anywere else. I would guess these are fish from driftwood habitats, like some plecs? -_-
