I went to go suction out the debris of my little gallon betta tank tonight and I noticed the water has a definite yellowish tint! It hasn't been like this before, I've had him for a week and a half, and done little water changes every other day or so. Anyways, the only thing that has changed for sure is that I changed his plastic plant for a silk one. Could this somehow be dying the water? :/ Otherwise he has a little ornament in there and I add Stress Coat. Anyone else had this problem with any of their tanks? I don't have a clue what's going on, or if I should do anything! Thanks.

If the water changing is'nt helping then it would most likely be something in the tank that is always in the tank.

YELLOW WATER???? :hyper:

It could very well be the plant, juliethegr8te. Cheap dye could run, and while it might not be noticed in a large tank, you would see it in the small one. It cannot be good for the fish.

Why not try taking it out and putting it in a small jar of water for a day or two? If that water turns yellow, too, you will know what it is for sure. In the meantime, you can clean up your tank and see if the problem reappears without the plant in.

If it is the plant, I hope you saved your receipt and take it back to the lfs where you bought it. (But, if it's a chain store, I bet they continue to sell them anyway! :/ )
