Yellow Lab With Kribensis

Ok i've read all about malawis i know there water needs and diet,care and habitat. I currently have a juwel 450 litre tank with 4 large clown loaches 10 full grown tiger barbs and 1 kribensis, Now the yellow lab is a stunning fish and I'd love to have atleast 4 so i ordered 4 from my LFS and they'll be here in a week, I did tell them that if there problems i'll be taking them back but my PH is currently 7.8-8.0..Its got quite a few plants with a few caves and coconut huts, i have tonnes of crushed coral with im going to mix into my gravel just to keep the PH at 8 as i have some bogwood which might bring it down abit...just wondering if anyone has had experience with labs in a non cichlid tank and with a kribensis

Could you expand on that?

I'm not disagreeing in the slightest but I have a friend with a mixed Malawi and krib tank and 'has no problems'.

Is it just an issue of setup or is it ph, etc?

I was told by the LFS that he currently had a pair or kribs with a pair of labs and had no problems whats so ever the only problem he had was the labs used to much his plants lol I asked the question wouldn't there be issues and he said pretty unlikely but you might get 1 random blood thirsty lab but theres a 5% chance of that happening so i was left thinking this plan was fine

I'm sure you could keep them together with no problems, I have seen some weird combinations of fish that worked out fine. Both require different pH levels but I have seen cichlids that prefer high pH live and breed in about 7.1pH. I guess some would say its not your " typiical setup ", like having cichlds from the same lake or discus with small schooling fish etc...like cookie cutter setups I guess is what I am trying to say. But in terms of working and not working, who knows only time can really tell.
