Yay! Free fish food!

Is that duckweed in the corner 😱😱
Haha, yep, sadly! The tub is right next to the pond, which explains the dragon and damselflies too.
I did skim the duckweed from the tub after taking this pic, but one of my tanks had duckweed reappear a couple of months ago anyway, before I was live feeding, so I didn't fret too much. I managed to eliminate it from my tanks for almost a year, I can do it again! But yes, I hate it too when it's anywhere but in the pond.

ngl i do have it in my 20g pond as well. Only reason is that it sells well so I can make some money from it :)
I'm very careful to make sure it dosnt end up in a indoor tank

It's funny isn't it? I can't imagine deliberately buying duckweed! It can look nice in a tank, sure, but it's such a mess and hassle to maintain, blows everywhere and gets stuck to everything when you do tank maintenance - so while some people are buying it, a lot of us would pay a lot to be able to get rid of it!

Duckweed is a wonderful plant if you have vegetarian fishes like rainbows, silver dollars and some Rift Lake cichlids. Put as much as you like in the tank and the fish eat it.

All fish will eat damselfly and dragonfly larvae, the fish just has to be big enough to do it.

You can freeze the damselfly and dragonfly larvae with the mozzie larvae and feed it to all the fish later on. If the damselfly larvae are too big, cut them up with a pr of scissors.

You will continue to get damselfly and dragonfly larvae in the container of water with mozzie larvae. About the only way to stop it is to put a flyscreen over the container and have the holes big enough for mozzies, but too small for everything else to get through. And that is hard to do so just scoop each day and put them in a white bucket with some tap water. Look for anything unusual and remove or freeze it, and feed the mozzie larvae off. When you have too many mozzie larvae, freeze, freeze, freeze. :)

Thank you!! I'll stop feeding live then (sorry fish, but I don't want you breeding right now anyway!) and follow the suggestion to scoop, check and freeze anything else I catch :)

The goldies in the pond pick at the duckweed I'm sure, but since they get fed and plenty of insect life too, they don't demolish it, and I don't mind it in the pond. None of my tank fish eat duckweed, but that's also fine by me since it means they also don't eat my expensive aquatic plants

Also, have I told you lately how much you're appreciated? My fish are loving the mozzies, and I feel much better about catching and freezing them and getting that free fish food! The advice from you, @AbbeysDad and others is super helpful for us newer hobbyists! Thank you :)
