My rena xp2 filter (external) we not sphion the water into it!!!! help.

See my answer over in your first post :good:

Do you mean it won't prime, If so are you starting it dry?

I have a XP3 and I fill it with tank water then turn it on.

No, but I left the lever up and put the water in the priming tube. put the lever down and it fills up the filter. When i go to plug it in, no water comes out of the outlet pipe??

No its not dry?

Is the motor running? Did you put the black cap back on the top of the primer section?

Did you close the lever to lock the hoses back onto the top motor housing section?

Like others have said, I simply fill the canister reservoir to the ridge (after the media baskets are in) and then put the motor housing cover on and lock it in place. Then attach the hoses and lock the clamp down. Then plug mine back in. I never have a problem with it self priming. It starts right up.

I have a "Filter Profile" on my blog for my xP1 which shows and describes how I do filter maintenance on my xP1. I also have an xP3.

Yeah, done all that. going try again. do u wait 2 mins before puging it in?

I don't wait 2 mins. I think that is only if you are going to rely on the self-priming method to fill up an empty canister reservoir.

Basically, when you lift up the lever on the hose connection plate, it seals both hoses full of water. Then if you put it back onto the canister (if the reservoir is empty) and then close down the lever, the water should start filling up the reservoir from the tank. This is the reason for the 2 minute wait.

If you fill the canister reservoir before putting the motor housing back on the top, snap the four latches, plug the hose connection plate back in and close the lever, the canister is already full of water. I just start it back up. Sometimes it will blow a few bubbles out of the return sprayer bar with a little alge from the inside of the return hose but other than that, both of mine run like charms using this method. I've never had a single problem with the priming taking place.

One last thing... when you did filter maintenance, do you check the impeller and pull it out to make sure nothing is wrapped around it that might be stopping it from spinning?

Check to make sure your hoses are kinked. Also... did you pull the impeller and clean it? Look at my blog article on the Filter Profile - xP1 to see how to do this.

Is it working properly now again Michelle?

its working well now. but over the last few mths the power only lasts a week before it starts dribbling.

any ideas?
