Hi
I was just wondering if anyone could give me their opions on this for me please.
I bought some x-ray tetra over a month ago, they have been in good health
but kept to a Tightly formed group all the time.
Now... i did a water change yesterday as usual, the only different thing i did was
to take the back ground off,as both the back of the tank and the backiing
needed a wipe over, the Tetra are now swimming all around the tank
either singley or in smaller groups, exploring like never befor.
Is it just a case that they didn't like the Blue backing paper ?
thanks for reading my waffle, :)

Absolutely possible.

Tetras form schools when they feel vulnerable. This might mean because they feel exposed, or because they are disturbed by things outside the tank (such as loud music or bright lights). When they are settled and happy, the school breaks apart, at least during the day, when each fish goes off looking for food and to do social things like fight or breed.

It sounds to me like they didn't like the blue paper, and you may as well leave it off.

X-ray tetras are very nice fish, by the way, and an excellent choice in my opinion. They are very hardy and I think rather attractive, and it's a shame the hobby often overlooks them.

Cheers,

Neale

Hi
thanks so much for the reply :)
i shall leave the backing off then,as to have the plant side on
makes the tank rather dark, that was why i was trying the blue side,
and i must say that by not having the back on makes
the tank so much lighter, also the fish grow more at ease as time goes by.
Thank you.
