brilliant example of a planted tank
Should have said the green component is useless for growth. It is well documented that chlorophyll uses red and blue wavelengths only,
Could I urge you to start a journal in the planted journal section slim? It would be nice to keep a track of your tank.
Slim, tank looks great!! I spy a GBR in there too, my favourite
Andy I was a bit harsh saying "useless" as although the green spike is rejected by the plants there's enough other wavelength light to keep the plants going. Should have said the green component is useless for growth. It is well documented that chlorophyll uses red and blue wavelengths only, white LEDs tend to have quite a strong blue peak with not much red. Since you have optimised CO2 and nutrients your lighting demands are not so high, certainly getting some good results with low light!
Definately, iv been meaning to do one for awhile now.Could I urge you to start a journal in the planted journal section slim? It would be nice to keep a track of your tank.
Oh ok thanxIt should gradually get closer to blue through the night. maybe still a mucky greeny blue just before CO2 commences.
Also try not to put too much solution in the DC. Use a smaller amount and it will change quicker so try keeping it below half way on the chameleon types (1ml+2drops)
Andy
Will do. The plan was to take it totally out the tank tonight after co2 turns off and see if it changes to blue after afew hours of it being out of water. In theory it should as itll be in a co2 free enviorment.Next time you clean it hold it up to the light and look very closely. I have had some that have a miniscule crack in them and then the tank water seeps in/solution seeps out etc. Not a lot but enough to render any result worthless.
Andy
Yea thats correct. Thats what im using too. Anyway, I took mt DC out last night and it did turn blue after a couple if hours. It jus doesnt in the water. Dunno my water must hold co2 really well or something. Strange. You would think the co2 levels woud drop over night if it aint switched on.Thats because the solution you are using is identical to the low range PH solution found in the API kit. I use 4DKH water and 3 drops of low range PH solution in mine. (Which i think im right in doing anyway!)
