The Brichardi fry hatched yesterday and i have moved them out the main tank into a fry growing on tank. I fed them today for the first time. :)
Aha.... Well, good luck with them! ;)

Yes! I got my first spawn! Looks like there are about 20 fries. I am surprized at their size - they are alot larger than I expected! They already eat what I feed to their mom... How does she fit all of them in her mouth???

Regardless, I'm gonna hatch some more baby brine shrimp... ;)

How long did you keep the female in the fry tank before releasing back into the main tank?

Here ar some pictures....

Looking for the flakes on the floor...

Congratulations :D

I have kept mum with them for about 24 hrs, but keep an eye on her, if she starts to be a threat to her babies, remove her.

I actually had to remove her yesterday, only few hours after spitting as she was being very aggressive to them... The mother seem comfortable in the main tank, eating again now...

This thread has been most helful :)
I noticed my psuedotropheus Holding eggs and not eating about 10 days ago. I managed to gently catch her and put her in a 2 foot breeding tank with plenty of caves and gravel. She has been in there about a week now. Still holding the eggs. My question is how long before she spits the fry out?

They are supposed to hold for around 3 weeks or longer. Since I didn't catch her holding from day 1, I have no clue how long she actually held.

The fries are doing quite nicely... I'm not sure if I lost any since it was very hard to count from the begining, I managed to keep 13 fries alive, and they are growing... I think they are now around 1.5cm long and they already show their parent behavior - i.e. come to the front glass when I approach to them! They really are not afraid of human!

Fortunately, I caught one in my filter during filter cleaning. This one is FAR smaller than the rest but she seems to be feeding fine now... It will be interesting to see how she progresses with the rest of larger siblings...
