Would this be safe to use as a dipper?

Glad to hear things are going good Gale. You probably don't need the BioSpira if you have mature filter media. That in itself should be all you need. I "borrowed" some filter media from my big tank when I started my 10 gallon and never had any ammonia or nitrite readings.
 
Next time try filling the bucket a quarter or half way instead of full. You may be able to pour from a partially filled bucket without spilling.

I thought about that, but then I wasn't sure how much aquasafe I would need for that amount. Right now I fill the bucket to 2.5 gallons then put in 1/4 teaspoon, which is the smallest measuring spoon I have.

btw I told my husband about my water changing adventure and he said I should have woken him up so he could pour it in for me. What a sweetie. :wub: Also, ammonia and nitrites still holding at zero and nitrates at ten. :thumbs:
 
I have a 5 gallon tank and when I add water to it I use a 1 gallon bottle. I called Tetra a while back to find out how much AquaSafe to use per gallon. They said take an eye dropper and use 8 drops per gallon. I think some of the small AquaSafe bottles actually have a dropper built into them. This might work well for you.
 
Thats what I do for my larger tanks. That way when you pour in the water it mixes up the dechlorinator. I don't do that for the small tank only because I find it easier to work with a smaller container. That's what I like about this forum. You can learn so many ways to do the same thing and then use what works best for your situation!!!! :D
 
OK I thought I had to dechlorinate the water I was putting in and had to do it before putting it in. So I can add dechlor to my tank based on how much water I plan to add and then add the non-treated water?
 
That's what I've been doing for years. The way I understand it is whatever is in the dechlorinator acts right on contact with the chlorine.
