Hi everyone, I've got 2 oscar fish in 84 gallon whom I'm trying to breed, but they are not ready at the moment. Laid eggs twice before, but the female's just not into it at the moment
so I'm looking for a fairly easy interesting little fish that would do fine in a 2.5 gallon tank to breed/ I'd love to raise fry and sell them. I might get a new 10 g, because I know I can get them for pretty cheap
What are your suggestions?

:) Emma :)

You could find a 10 gallon tank, barebottom, for practically nothing if you know where to look. Once you have that, make a cheap condesation tray, drill a hole for airline tubing, and hook up a sponge filter. I you look up condensation trays and sponge filters in the DIY section, you'll probably find good ideas.

Remember, you have to have room for the fry to growout, so you're better off with at least a 10 gallon tank, 20+ for most cichlids, bettas, etc.

Suggestion for a first-timer: danios, if you wanted egglayers. Can't exactly sell 'em but your oscars'd love 'em. ^_^

you might be able to breed ghost shrimp in a tank that size. although it's not a fish. another (nonfish) option would be snails. They come in lot's of sizes and shapes too. Other than that...buy yourself a ten gallon and some shelldwellers I believe they can breed in tens...although you may need something bigger for growout.
