The thread still serves a purpose as a means of identifying sailfin plecs, the pics are good and clear and show a classic example of a sailfin plec .

They are quite difficult to id correctly. My Pleco was id'd here as a Gibby and he isn't. They look remarkably similar, except for the eventual size of course!

Definitely a gibby, not a lipo.

Liposarcus pardalis:

Gibby's can reach 18-24 inches, but more usually up to 18" max, lipos apparently reach up to 12" but I've seen bigger.
