I noticed you can buy weekend food blocks but was wondering if it was really neccessary? Im pretty sure no fish would die if i didnt feed them for two days and probably would suffer no ill health. What do you guys think? I realise you are all like me fish lovers but that may also blinker views on whats actually cruel and what is totally fine. p.s. my tank is heavily stocked with live plants if that makes a difference.

not at all, fish are fine up to a week or so without food. remember they live on the brink of stavation in the wild and are generally over fed in home aquariums.

those weekend blocks just mank up your water and do more harm than good. absolutley fine to leave the fish for a weekend

I found out on here feeder blocks are not recommended due to them being plaster of paris there are compressed meat ones available but honestly for a weekend I wouldn't worry unless you have fry. Fedd them before you go and when you get back.

Yeah no need to feed them if its only a couple of days ... some people on here recommend using the gel blocks if you go away for longer.

They`ll be fine for the weekend, just feed them before you go and then when you get home

i'd say a week is the longest i'd leave them without food. we're having a 2 week holiday this summer i'll just get someone in every 3/4 days to feed them.
