I posted this over in the beginner's forum but didn't really get any responses so I thought maybe her I would. I bought 2 pounds of gravel from my LFS for cyling of my tank. There are litle worm like creatures in it. I dont know if these are parasitic or they are some kind of worm used as fish food. Some of them stick half their body stright out of the gravel and sit there. Any ideas?

Sorry people, these don't look like any bloodworms I've ever seen. These really look like worms, and not the bloodworm larvae which has an obvious stumpy head and back-end.

These look/sound like Camallanus parasites, or could be just Planarians.

Here's a link for you to look at.....

My advice is don't take the risk, and to boil the gravel several times. This'll minimise any risks.

I don't know, but I have been getting loads of tiny white worms in my bettas breeding tank, where do they come from ? because all I am feeding my fish are variety of flake foods, plants are fake and no gravel in the tank, it's like the came out of nowhere, I have disinfected tank and plants with a salt solution. They keep coming back after 1 week. any help would be appreciated....
