We have something very bad in our tank. Losing fish, most recently a Ram, another Ram is acting funny as well. The other ram had a wormlike thingy coming in and out of its rectum, red in color. Tonight we saw a worm white and about one quarter of an inch long, extremely thin, we caught it for I.D. at the LFS tomorrow. IS THIS THE CULPRIT?????? We use RO water and try to maintain excellent water conditions. I am guessing this come from a new plant. Anybody have any suggestions. This is horrible, we have lost 9 awesome fish.

Need Help.....

thats bad man. it could be a tapeworm if its thin and white. if it is take all ur fish out of the tank and clean the fish a tank really good.

I am treating the tank with paragon from the lfs. They thought this would take care of it. Tapeworm, where could this come from and will the paragon take care of it.

thanks

Sounds like it could be Anchor Worm also.

Paragon should work well for this as it's an anti-parasitic med.

You might have to manually remove the adult anchor worms afterwards but don't do it now as it's extremely stressful on the fish and can be very painful if the Anchor Worms are still alive and deeply embedded.

Keep us updated.
