Worlds Rarest Danio

I would sell some of the fry on.
I'm will probably contact Pete Cottle and or Paul Rowntree (kerripaul) with regards any conservation projects,
if anyone will know about such things, they will.

good for you, nice balance between helping out nature when it's needed and getting a little bit of money so the hobby isn't so damn expensive!!

good luck :good:

Great looking fish Wolf. Danios were my first fish in the hobby so there will always be a special place in my heart for the species.

I'll cross all my limbs, , in hope that they breed for you. :good:

How the hell can it be legal to get wild caught fish which only have an estimated population of 250.

hmmmmm good point, maybe theres some clause thing that means u can if its 4 breeding purposes
another good find from the wolf thats 2 in a short space of time (screensaver aswell) , awaiting the 3rd

Nice find, but what I find odd is.

I don't quite get what you are trying to say.
if say I was to go to Sri Lanka and go to the river that these fish are naturaly in,
catch them and bring them back to the UK.
not only would I be breaking several Sri Lankan laws, I would also be breaking several UK laws too.

before this fish was put on the endangered list and given protected status for the wild population they were as abundant as
the humble Zebra danios is.
many people still have them from before the ban and the offspring from these captives are allowed to be traded.
it is only dealing in wild caught ones that is illegal.

TBH I can see the celestial pearl danio entering the red list very very soon.

how does one tell wild caught from captively bred?
the way they act?

there is no discernible difference from wild caught fish and tank bred ones.
you can not get wild caught ones!
