Transporting an adult elephant by plane is no small task, and has only been undertaken a handful of times.

Helpers packed his trunk with 200 kilograms (450 pounds) of food to snack on during the seven-hour flight aboard a jumbo Russian cargo plane.

Kaavan greets another pal at the sanctuary. It's the first time in 8 years that he has
had a contact with another animal.

That poor elephant. I'm so happy he was saved.

He really enjoyed being serenaded by Cher too

He did and apparently you could see his face and eyes light up when she sung to him. His personal carer and vet bonded with him by singing 'My Way'.

Elephants are highly intelligent and are especially social creatures. They are very caring and when a baby elephant is orphaned the community will take care of it.

"When we arrived 10 days ago ... I started to train him and to sing to him and he accommodated me so we have a relationship," he said, adding he chose Sinatra's hit "My Way."

'Animal rights advocates have long raised concerns about conditions at Islamabad's zoo, where dozens of animals including six lion cubs have died in the past four years.'

I was being sarcastic to be honest  he shook his head around which made him appear to enjoy it, but I'm sure I've heard they do that as a sign of distress?

Elephants have actually been found to enjoy listening to music. Elephants of different ages also tend to like different types of music, like rock, classical, etc. If I remember correctly, older elephants like classical music the best.

I've heard this too. What I'm saying is that I've heard that elephants shaking their heads is a sign of distress rather than enjoyment
