just got a 120G tank for $499 :D I think i'm going to go with the Fish Only Marine set up  I'm filling it up with water right now to make sure there's no leaks and such, boy does it take a long time to fill, even with the snake thing :dunno:

crap, it's finally almost full and I just heard a loud POP! there's a spot in the tank i didn't notice before and I can't tell if it's cracked on the inside, it's definitely not cracked on the outside though...should I try to finish filling it up?

well, i let it fill almost to under the lidline (?) and heard a few more pops. Hopefully it's just the stand settling. I noticed the water level isn't level also, anytips on makin' it level (stick a matchbook or 3 under it? :dunno: ). I'm draining the water now so I can check out that spot, hopefully it's just a piece of rubber or silicone ish...

finally...just finished draining it...only took wut, like 6 hours? lol  well, the mark is rubberized, so hopefully i won't hear any more creaking next time I fill it up to get it ready to cycle

make sure the stand is level before refilling. also, check all the seals and make sure they are good. last think you want to deal with is 120 gallons of water suddenly NOT being in your aquarium anymore.

forgot to say congratulations on the new tank :D

how do I level it? My apartment has carpet floors and i don't know how to make all the carpet lay down the same :dunno:

Congrats you lucky thing! B)

I would put layers of thickish cardboard under the stand (we have a cupboard) to level it up.
It acts like a sponge so evens it out as well as raising the front (presuming it is the front that needs raising?)
Also make sure you have some support for the tank itself. Any imperfection in the glass will be stressed and will break the tank if you do not have an even surface for the tank to sit on....
We use polystyrene ceiling tiles underneath ours :)

Good luck....
Let us know what you decide to put in it (marine fish wise)

I guess I'll try putting cardboard under one side of the stand. The Stand was made for this aquarium i believe, if not the tank sits perfectly inside the lip of the stand so I can't even out the part the tank is on. My tank is sitting next to my compters and my new tv sits on the floor not 15' away so I really don't want all that water gushing out. Any other tips?

Use a spirit level before you fill it to make sure it's level. Use a wooden wedge under the cabinet where it's needed to level it off. If the cabinet's was made for the tank and is level, then the tank will be, also.

Congrats on the new tank - it's a great size and would be stunning with a living reef in it.

the weight of wood might eventually compress it and then the tank won't be level again. Try nickels. They're solid, durable and only a nickel each.

You can try to use styrofoam sheets, but i don't think that would work terribly well with your situation. i put a thing layer of styrofoam between my tank and stand to even out all glass imperfections.
