woohoo! i finally got my free 40gal set up!

my friend gave me her 40 gallon tank, with a catfish, a pleco, and some kind of gourami. it's awsome! we gave the tank a complete do-over, wich looks 100 times better than it did....VERY dirty. she said she thought one of them was a cory...and till now i couldn't tell because they've been in a bucket. but now that i've put them in the new tank, i took one look at the thing and i'm like *holy crap...that ain't no cory!*. lol. but ne way...i'd like to know wut kind of gourami it is...it's a very shiny blue, with a red tail, and red stripes all down it's side.

knowing how much everyone here knows about gourami's i'm expecting a *you dum ace! thats a *so&so* gourami!! how could you not kno that!* lol. jk. tahnks for you're answers

Im not sure what kind of gourami it is as Im only in to da bettas but congrats on da new tank!!!

I'd say you have a Paradise fish or a dwarf neon gourami.

a paradise fish? never ehard of it....but if it isn't a gourami, then i know thats not wut it is...lol. i may not know alot about gourami types, but i know wut they look like!

With the 'red tail' description I would definatly say it is a red paradise gourami! they totally match the description!!

It could be a paradise fish, which is not a gourami, but looks very much like one. It is an anabantoid like gouramis and bettas, but is something else entirely.

It's important to identify this fish, because if it is a paradise fish, it will have an aggressive personality and should not be put into a community tank with small fish.

I'm sure you would have said something about a long tail if it was a paradise fish.

There are lots of possiblities in the striped gourami area.

Neon blue dwarf gourami
Dwarf gourami (red tail)
banded (giant) gourami
And finally the paradise fish

nope...not the paradise thing.

i looked up some pics of neon gourami's, and it kinda looks like them. i haven't looked up dwarf gourami's, so i don't know wut they look like.
