After seeing the little git almost catch my other clown tonight and having no luck with the traps I decided drastic action was called for. I did give serious consideration to just spearing it with a spike and having done with it but I'm a bit of ponce when it comes to things like that and dont agree with killing something which you uprooted from the ocean for your own amusement just because its being a pain.

So killing was out, traps where not working, all I had left was to strip the tank down and catch him by hand.

Took about 30 minutes to transfer all my corals and most of the LR to the fuge then about another 20 minutes chasing it around the remain bit of LR in the tank but I finally got him! :)

Anyway there is no reason anyone should care but after all that I had to share it with someone :)

Well done Barney, you can sleep easy now :good:
What are you going to do with the little bugger

He is going to stay in the fuge for now. There is a couple of KG of live rock in there and I will drop a bit of food from him every so often.

No idea what kinda of crab it is. Picture below is about the best I have got of him. He used to sometimes sit in the hood of the tank or on the dividers of the back compartments. In this picture he was busy munching on one of the smaller crabs that was in there.

Hey guysm regarding crabs, can you please explain my situation?

I live in Korea. And there are several brackish beaches that extend from rivers. But straight to the point.

At one of the beaches I caught lots of crabs(Brackish) I took them home(30 minute ride) and, not knowing where to put them, put them in my(Then) 30 gallon halfbeak/guppy plastic planted freshwater tank. I confess that I didn't know what I was doing.. But get this: Although they are BRACKISH, they lived in my complete(but hard, alkaline) freshwater tank for almost two months, until they all died or crawled out of the tank(Forgive me, I was 12 at the time)

Are they THAT adapive?

I can only speak in general.

Where a tide exists is the salinity of brackish water varying all the time.

And, most animals aren't specifically brackish. They are mostly freshwater animals that tolerate salt or marine animals that can tolerate freshwater.

Yes I agree. Its the same with black molleys which usually live in freshwater but can be moved into brackish and can also be acclimatised to live in full marine water!
