I know tannin in wood can drop pH but didn't expect a drop this big, the wood isn't exactly huge either.

Tank before wood; 7.6
Tank after wood; 6.4
Tap water today: 7.0 (sometimes it's lower)

What would be a dangerous level for it to drop to for my green terrors?
Guessing small more often water changes until the tannin has soaked out the wood is the only cure too? :grr:

If you have a low mineral content to your water, the pH effects an be dramatic.

To be honest, don't really have a clue mate.
I was guessing it was the wood tannins dropping the pH as it wasn't soaked before hand, just put straight into the tank.
