ok, after changing to a sand substrate, I have been having trouble with both penguin 150 biowheel power filters in my 20 gallon. so im guessing that my filters are sucking up the sand, the impellers arent showing any scoring and still spin smoothly bbut did show bits of sand

after they shut down all i have been doing is moving the impeller out and back in to get them restarted, performance hasnt been compromised

I could shorten up the intakes my concern is will this affect the filteration because it will be sucking from the middle instead of the bottom.

would i be better off running a differnt type of filter with sand

thank you

very cool, (gee why didn't i think of that)

I assume "AC" means aqua clear and not air conditioner
