Wiring Ballast

I have bought an extra ballast, wiring, caps etc and am going to place them inside my 12" hood. I want to place them inside the metal compartment where my original ballast is housed. They are both magnetic while one is a slim version of the other. I just wish to ask will this get too hot and cause problems with the wiring or anything else?

Ordinary (AKA magnetic) ballasts do put out a large amount of heat..... mine are too hot to hold for too long, so I would suggest mounting them out of the hood, and just run a pair of cables upto the lamps/starters.

PC case fans will help at a push if you really want to mount them in the hood.
