well i was thinking.. the clay pots.. that are cheapest.. can be used as small caves for hiding?

i mean get a small size pot break the side and make a hole big enough for ur fish to swim in and come out thro mouth and place it in a proper position.. but i want to know do we need to heat the clay pot before immersing or washing it will be fine?

Ive had a teracota clay pot in my tank for many years with no obvious detrimental effect, i just made sure it was thoroughly clean first.
hope this helps.

A lot of people use terracota pots in their tanks. Regular clay pots that have been fired, (i.e. are hard), and well washed pose no threat. If they have previously been used for plants, then special care should be used to make sure they have not been exposed to pesticides or other noxious chemicals, if in doubt, don't use them.

I've not used clay for sometime, but im pretty sure if the clay is hard (not yet been fired) putting it in a fish tank is the last thing you want to do. As it will simply absorb the water, turn to slug and completly ruin your tank and kill what evers living inside.
