Fish Gatherer
A few things jump out at me here....
> Your tank is only a month old and likely won't stabilize for a few more months.
> You already have a fair number of fish for a relatively new 50g tank.
> I feel that long term 25-50% monthly (especially w/o living plants) is not enough to maintain high water quality with the fish that you currently have, let alone the overstocking you've suggested. Remember, there's no such thing as too much clean, fresh water.
Now it always a great debate. Every tank is different due to tank maturity, stock level, feeding amount/frequency, plants (especially fast growing floating plants), tank maintenance....
I do a 50% weekly water change on most tanks, while I do 50% 2x week on more heavily stocked and grow out tanks.
Since it seems you might be relatively new to the hobby, I offer Newer Hobbyist Primer, a collection of articles that provide a leg up in this fascinating hobby.
