I bought 2 Bolivian Rams who I think may be a pair, they were together the whole time at the LFS and I'm pretty sure 1 is male and the other female.

I was just wondering whether there is any chance of them breeding in a tank with a pH of 8, the LFS where i got them also had them at pH 8.

What do you guys recon...? Just so I don't get my hopes up if theres no chance!

Thanks

they might, give it a go and see what happens. Generally most captive bred fish will breed in any water as long as they are well fed and free of disease. For example I have bred corydoras barbatus a number of times and I keep them in hard alkaline water. They naturally occur in soft acid water.

I WOULDNT BE SURPRIZED IF THEY DID IF THEY STICK TOGETHER AND GET A LITTLE HIDAWAY :good:
HOPE THEY DO BREED THOUGH AND IF THEY DO YOU'LL NEED LOTS OF PICS

Thanks, well i'll continue with the wholesome feeds! They have a well planted community tank so if they breed the eggs/fry should survive. I will def. post pics if they do though!

Some fish physically can't spawn in water that is very hard and/or alkali, due to the eggs not being able to be fertilized. I'm not too sure about this with rams however, it's just something to keep in mind.
