Hi guys and girls. Hope you can help. I came home from work this morning to find my filter not running. I have a fluval 3+ and it was running ok yesterday evening 8pm.
Took the head off it this morning and gave it a good clean and it is working again. Will the bacteria have dies in the 12-14 hours maximum that the filter has not been running?

Thanks as always

Steve

if your filter was wet bacteria will be ok

it should be fine
glad you found it

Thanks guys. The filter was still fully submerged, even when I took the head off. I left the bottom with the media in suspended in the tank. Gonna have to keep an eye on it I guess

Be testing your water for ammonia spikes anyway - it's not just a case of keeping it wet. Bacteria also need oxygen, provided by moving water through it. You could've had a die off so monitor closely.

My 2+ filter does this after the power to it goes off - I raise it half out the water, give it a good shake and it usually starts again without having to take it apart. Train anyone you live with to do this after a power cut if you're not in!

The new version (U Series) also do this, Not sure why. My U2 (new version of 2+) wil sometimes not start if i unplug it and plug it back in. If you pull the plug out again and put it back, its starts again. Random....
