I have just bought a breeding pair of discus, they were introduced to the tank last night, however, the biggest of the pair and the existing dominant discus have jyst bickered constantly from the moment the pair was introduced. They are beating their bodies and headbutting each other, will this settle down. Also is the discus pair bond strong? And lastly i have now got 6 discus (ay about 5 - 5.5"), cold i add another 2 as they still seem really shy> (tank is juwel rio 400 - 60 x 30 x 24").

It sounds to me if I have read your post correctly is you bought a breeding pair of discus and added it to a tank with other discus? Why?
Most people when they get a pair remove them from other discus, especially if you are wanting to breed them. I had 5 discus in my tank till I got a my fish to pair up. Until I had a pair they would be fighting a lot to determine which one is the dominate fish. I kept them there till I got another tank set up to move them into. The breeding fish always were more aggressive at this time toward the other fish in the tank. Most likely the fighting going on now is to determine the dominate fish in there now. So the pair could be broken up, and a discus you currently have in the tank take it's place.
You will most likely not get any fry in a tank with several discus either, it's very uncommon.

In answer to the second question, interms of capacity you can comfortably keep 8 discus in your aquarium.

Not sure why you added a breeding pair to a tank already containing disucs? It would have been better to add fish that werent paired.
