Wild Redneck Severum

Willis, thanks for that :good: . I have not heard of a 'Belem Severum' before though. Do you have any links to any information about them please?

Ok I feel silly now as just realised that Belem is actually a place.

F1 means that they are 1 generation away from wild fish - so the parents were wild. Mine were labeled up as Wild Red Faced, but when I asked Niel he said they were F1 Belems. Most commercial Green Severums are a mix of regional variants of Heros Efasticious but sp.Belem is the most common source strain of the breeding programs.

So being close to wild they will have better colours and the Red in the face is only going to get stronger. The half black bars that are showing are an other regional trait. Very nice looking pics :)

Brilliant thanks for that info, much appreciated. They did have some larger specimans in the tank on the left as you walk in (above the cold water section) and they looked lovely. Any idea of sex?

I knew you were going to ask lol.... its a tough one as even female Belems show the red on the cheeks and a little across the nose but the males have brighter red across the nose and this is half way between what I would expect of the two... I am leaning towards Male though :)

Any pics taken yet. As far as I know the heros sp appendiculatus can be called a redface/redneck severum but I've also heard of the rotkeil called redneck. It all gets very confusing. We have four rotkiel
