Had a trip to Peir Aquatics today just for a look around. Came back with a lovely wild caught redneck Severum :shout: Gorgeous looking fish, has anyone else got one??

I believe you are referring to the Rotkeil Severum aka 'red shoulder severum', yes?

If so then i also have one, beautifull fish. Not as characterfull as other Sevs, but stunningly beautifull never the less!

Yes thats the one, sounds great. I think that these look more natural than some of the other strains. I will get a pic on tomorrow once it has settled in a little.

I've been looking one for well over a year.
Can only find green, golden and red spotted her and I have two of each of them.

Yeah if its wild Red Shoulder it could be one of a handful of species.... Any pics? How much were they and any idea of catch location?

It was labelled up as a 'wild caught redneck Severum' and it was just under £20 for a 3 inch speciman. Not sure where it was caught to be honest. I will get a pic shortly.

Any pics taken yet. As far as I know the heros sp appendiculatus can be called a redface/redneck severum but I've also heard of the rotkeil called redneck. It all gets very confusing. We have four rotkiel

Thanks guys. It is in my 180 quarantine tank at the moment on its own, but just managed to get a couple of shots.

What do we think?

It's not a rotkiel but very pretty. A rotkiel would have a blue face at that size.If you want rotkiel we will have some ready to go in a month or so. :hey:

I think it certainly does look like the heros sp appendiculatus

looks just like the heros sp appendiculatus pic bonzo gave a link to :good:

Ah I do know what these are :) I had a pair of them a while ago but moved them on due to them breeding and causing issues, mine were probably the runts of the batch with a few fin defects and less colour than yours....

My guess is that yours is an F1 Belem Severum from the same batch as mine just still some left in the shop (they have had a large batch in for a while now)

Should be pretty when it grows up then :good: Anybody good at sexing Sevs then?
