Wierd looking gouramis

Hi, I was in Dublin on Monday and I went into a pet shop that had a small selection of tropical fish. What I did notice were these odd looking fish that looked like kissing gouramis with the same colouring only looked severely stunted with rather large heads; kind of just like a head attached to a tail. I can't remember what the shop was called, only that those fish didn't look at all right They were labelled as 'fire gouramis' or something. Anyone have any idea if anything like this exists?

They where probably Giant Gourmai.

Not sure but whatever it was it didn't look right, all out of proportion They were pretty small, smaller than the baby moonlight gouramis in the same tank, probably about 2" at the most.

Thanks for the link branch, I know that debate goes on for years so I won't read all of it but it wasn't any of the fish in the first post that were pictured.
