So I have six dwarf rainbows (precox) in my tank and the dominant male (the largest and most colorful) started to exhibit an odd behavior. I couldn't figure out if it was territorial or mating behavior. What happened was that he turned a much deeper shade of red on the fins and this incredible peach stripe appeared on top of his head running back latterly to his dorsal fin. It was extremely bright. Then he started to chase all of the other rainbows around and he did this weird circling dance with a few then just started chasing them again. The whole thing lasted about an hour and then they became calm again and the stripe faded almost completely. Up to this point, they have been very docile fish. Is this spawning behavior?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

That dude was definitely "in the mood"

That is indeed spawning behaviour. :hey:

How many males and females do have? 3/3 ?
If so, you can expect eggs in a few days, once he has won over the girls. :)
